This international prize is organised every year as part of the Salon international du livre jeunesse et de la bande dessinée de Yaoundé (SALIJEY). Its aim is to pay tribute to the entire career of a professional in children’s publishing in Africa. It is named after Aliou Sow, the very first winner of this prize. He (Aliou Sow) was awarded the prize in recognition of his considerable work in developing the children’s book industry in Africa and in his own country, Guinea. OAPE AFRICA has supported this prize since its inception.
